Abstract

acid injury to the stomach may result in a variety of late-appearing complications that follow a predictable course. Caustic gastric injury resulting from acid ingestion remains relatively uncommon as compared with alkaline injury, due to the
greater
use of alkali in household and industrial products. It has been recognized that the differential pattern of intestinal injury encountered with acid as opposed to alkaline ingestion; specifically the tendency for acids to lick the esophagus and
bite
the
pyloric antrum, whereas the opposite situation results from alkaline ingestion. This report illustrates certain late sequela of 2 gastric acid injuries, examines the gamut of acid injuries and discussed their operative and nonoperative
management.
